The Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) during a recent visit to the Union’s headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.
Ms Nargiza Numanova, Head of the Secretary-General’s Office, together with colleagues from the Secretariat, welcomed the delegation and provided an overview of ABU’s key activities and regional initiatives.
Led by Mr Han Xinxing, the delegation highlighted opportunities for deeper collaboration in artificial intelligence, digital transformation, technology exchange, content co-production, and regional storytelling across the Asia-Pacific. Mr Han noted China’s rapid advancements in technology and AI, expressing confidence that stronger engagement with ABU could help accelerate innovation and digital transformation within the regional broadcasting industry.
Joining the delegation was Mr Tony Tang, CFO of G.H.Y Culture & Media, who also introduced the Asian Screen Institute and expressed interest in collaborating with ABU on upskilling and professional development programmes for members. He noted that a potential partnership between G.H.Y and ABU would be particularly valuable in the areas of training and capacity building, with a strategic roadmap focused on three pillars: foundation, expansion, and global impact.
Meanwhile, Ms Li Jia, Deputy Director of the Communication Department of the CPC Beijing Dongcheng District Committee, emphasised the importance of cultural storytelling through film and television. She highlighted Dongcheng’s aspiration to serve as a platform showcasing a cultural landscape rooted in history while embracing innovation, further strengthening international audio-visual cooperation.
The visit underscored the growing importance of collaboration, talent exchange, and cross-border storytelling as broadcasters across the region continue to navigate an increasingly digital and interconnected media environment.
