AI-POWERED ROBOT RESTAURANT
We are thrilled to announce that the report on the AI-powered robot restaurant, contributed by CCTV/CMG (China), has won the Asiavision Monthly Award for January. This recognition is particularly special as it is voted on by the members of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU). ANCIENT WINTER FESTIVAL LIGHTS UP INDIA’S HIMALAYAN VILLAGES
We are thrilled to announce that DDI Ancient winter festival lights up India’s Himalayan villages is our Asiavision Monthly Winner for February. This breathtaking story takes us high into the mountains, where ancient traditions burn brighter than the winter cold. COVERAGE OF A MASS SHOOTING AT BONDI BEACH
The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) receives the Asiavision Award for December for its reporting on the mass shooting at a Bondi Beach Hanukkah festival on December 14, 2025. The attack, carried out by two gunmen, resulted in at least 15 deaths and dozens of injuries. Authorities and world leaders have condemned the act as a terrorist and antisemitic attack. The ABC is recognized for its extensive coverage of the incident and its aftermath.

COVERAGE OF A POWERFUL EARTHQUAKE THAT STRUCK NORTHERN JAPAN
NHK Japan is also honoured with the Asiavision Award for December for its comprehensive coverage of a powerful earthquake in northern Japan. The broadcaster is praised for its timely, in-depth reporting, which included live on-the-ground updates and detailed analysis of the disaster’s impact.

COVERAGE OF THE MASSIVE FIRE TRAGEDY AT WANG FUK COURT IN TAI PO
TVB Hong Kong is the winner of the Asiavision Award for November for its comprehensive coverage of the devastating fire tragedy at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po. The broadcaster delivered timely, on-the-ground reporting that captured the full scale of the disaster, including rescue operations, eyewitness accounts and updates on casualties.

COVERAGE OF THE ONGOING CONFLICT BETWEEN THAILAND AND CAMBODIA
MCOT Thailand has won the Asiavision Award for October for its coverage of the ongoing conflict between Thailand and Cambodia. The broadcaster is recognized for its comprehensive reporting on the border tensions, including frontline updates, official statements and the humanitarian impact on local communities.

COVERAGE OF TYPHOON BUALOI
VTV Vietnam has been named the September Asiavision Award recipient in recognition of its extensive, high-quality coverage of Typhoon Bualoi. The broadcaster delivered round-the-clock reporting on the typhoon’s landfall, including live updates, evacuation efforts and post-disaster recovery operations.

COVERAGE OF THE PROTEST AGAINST CORRUPTION AND THE SOCIAL MEDIA BAN
NTV Nepal has been awarded the Asiavision Award for September in recognition of its comprehensive coverage of the protests against corruption and the social media ban. The broadcaster captured the unfolding events on the streets, gathered diverse perspectives from citizens and officials, and provided in-depth analysis of the political situation.

COVERAGE OF THE WORLD HUMANOID ROBOT GAMES
CCTV China and TVB Hong Kong are the joint winners of the Asiavision Award for August in recognition of their outstanding coverage of the World Humanoid Robot Games. Both broadcasters delivered compelling stories on this groundbreaking event, showcasing the latest advancements in robotics, athlete-style competition between humanoid machines and the wider implications for technology and society.

COVERAGE OF REGIONAL DIPLOMATIC TIES AND RECORD-BREAKING FIREWORKS DISPLAY
PSM Maldives wins the Asiavision Award for July 2025. This is in recognition of their exceptional coverage of the official visit by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the record-breaking fireworks display that marked the country’s 60th independence anniversary. The broadcaster is praised for its comprehensive reporting on the diplomatic ties and national celebrations.

COVERAGE OF AN AIR INDIA FLIGHT CRASH IN AHMEDABAD
DD India wins the Asiavision Award for June 2025, recognising its outstanding and compassionate coverage of the Air India flight crash in Ahmedabad. The broadcaster delivered prompt, accurate and sensitive reporting on the tragedy, including rescue and relief operations, official briefings and stories of the victims and their families.

COVERAGE ON CLIMATE CHANGE HIGHLIGHTING THE SEVERE THREATS TO MOUNTAIN REGIONS
NTV Nepal wins the Asiavision Award for May for its coverage on climate change, highlighting the severe threats to mountain regions. The broadcaster is recognised for its in-depth reporting on melting glaciers, shifting weather patterns and the impact on communities living in the Himalayas.

COVERAGE OF AUSTRALIAN GENERAL ELECTIONS
ABC Australia wins the Asiavision Award for April for its prompt, diverse, and comprehensive coverage of the Australian General Elections. The broadcaster delivered a wide range of stories, from voter sentiment and party campaigns to live election-night results and analysis of the political landscape.

COVERAGE OF THE ARREST OF FORMER PRESIDENT DUTERTE
ABS-CBN is the winner of the March Asiavision Award for its coverage of the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte on a warrant from the International Criminal Court. The broadcaster is praised for its timely and comprehensive reporting on a major political development.

MOST POPULAR DOWNLOADS
NHK is the winner of the Asiavision award for February for providing five out of the ten most popular Asiavision videos during the month. The most popular NHK video in February was a story on record snowfalls in Hokkaido, downloaded by ABC, DD, PSM, RTB, TDM, TRT, TVB and VTV. Other top NHK videos covered forest fires in northern Japan and a dinosaur running contest.
WINNER: TVRI, INDONESIA
REPORTER PACKAGE ON EARLY WARNING SYSTEMS
TVRI World is the winner of the January Asiavision Award for a reporter package on how Indonesia is developing early warning systems to reduce the impact of extreme weather events and tsunamis. The package by Cisca Becker explained risk assessment models, the importance of international collaboration and public education, and new tools to monitor potential disasters. It was also visually rich, enhanced by drone vision, satellite imagery and graphics.

The Asiavision monthly award is presented for the best news story of the month. It aims to promote good journalism, media participation and international co-operation. The winner is chosen by AVN editorial staff, and members are encouraged to nominate their choice.The winner is announced in the monthly report sent to members at the end of each month. They receive a certificate with a citation. The selection criteria are:
