The National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) of Papua New Guinea has completed a series of regional consultations as part of its ongoing review of the country’s Broadcasting Act. The consultations brought together stakeholders from across the broadcasting and media sectors to gather feedback on proposed reforms aimed at strengthening the legislative framework governing broadcasting services.

According to NBC, the review seeks to ensure that the Broadcasting Act remains relevant in an evolving media landscape shaped by digital transformation, changing audience behaviours, and emerging technologies. The consultation process provided an opportunity for industry representatives, community broadcasters, government agencies, and other stakeholders to contribute their views on the future direction of broadcasting in Papua New Guinea.

NBC stated that insights gathered during the consultations will help inform the next stage of the review process as the organisation works towards developing a modern and inclusive broadcasting framework that supports both public service broadcasting and the broader media industry.
