Fiji Television has celebrated an important newsroom milestone, with Niudamu becoming the fourth woman to serve in the role of News Director at Fiji TV.

The achievement represents another positive step for women’s leadership within Fiji’s broadcasting industry and reflects the growing contribution of women across editorial, production and newsroom management roles.

As News Director, Niudamu took responsibility for directing Fiji One’s flagship 6:00 PM live news bulletin, coordinating the technical and editorial teams responsible for bringing the programme to air.

Live television news requires close collaboration among journalists, producers, presenters, camera operators, editors and studio teams. The News Director plays a central role in managing the programme’s timing, content flow and live production while responding quickly to editorial and technical developments.

Fiji Television highlighted the milestone as part of its continuing commitment to recognising and developing talent within the organisation.

The achievement provides an encouraging example of how broadcasters can create practical pathways for women to move into leadership and decision-making positions within news and current affairs.
