ABU News Group Strengthens Representation on AIB Executive Committee

6 May 2026

The Association for International Broadcasting has confirmed the composition of its Executive Committee for the 2026–2028 term, with strong representation from the Asia-Pacific region through members of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union News Group.

Ahmet Görmez, Chair of the ABU News Group and Deputy Director General at Turkish Radio and Television Corporation, has been appointed to the Executive Committee following an uncontested nomination. With extensive experience in international journalism and conflict reporting, his appointment brings valuable editorial and strategic insight to the organisation. It also coincides with AIB’s introduction of a staggered election system, designed to strengthen leadership continuity and governance stability.

Nesryn Bouziane, Vice-Chair of the ABU News Group and Lead of International Broadcast and Digital Services at Australian Broadcasting Corporation, continues her tenure on the Committee through March 2027. Her continued presence ensures that Asia-Pacific perspectives remain well represented as the organisation transitions into its new governance structure.

Craig Dale, Chief Editor at Channel NewsAsia under Mediacorp, also remains on the Executive Committee until March 2027. His role brings strong editorial leadership and regional expertise, particularly in navigating the evolving digital and broadcast landscape in Southeast Asia.

Together, the appointments of Görmez, Bouziane and Dale reinforce the growing influence of Asia-Pacific broadcasters in global media governance. Their presence on the Executive Committee highlights the region’s active role in shaping the future of international broadcasting and strengthening collaboration across borders.
