Finalists for the 17th TRT International Documentary Awards have been officially announced, with 40 projects shortlisted across four categories: International, National Professional, National Student Films, and Project Support. The full list of finalists is now available on the official website.

Organised by Turkish Radio and Television Corporation, the Awards continue to champion both emerging and established documentary filmmakers, supporting the growth of the genre while bringing diverse global stories to wider audiences. This year’s finalists were selected following a rigorous evaluation process by the pre-selection committee.

Under the theme “Be Bold, Leave a Mark,” the 2026 edition highlights powerful storytelling that captures humanity’s realities across cultures, geographies, and lived experiences. From intimate personal narratives to broader reflections on society, nature, and history, the festival connects audiences with stories that resonate beyond borders.

The Awards received 1,409 submissions from 109 countries, underscoring its growing international reach. From these entries, 40 finalists will compete for a total of 12 awards across the four categories.

Finalist films will be evaluated by the jury from 4 to 7 June, with winners to be announced at the official award ceremony on 7 June. The festival will also feature screenings of shortlisted films and curated selections, further enriching the documentary landscape in Türkiye and beyond while supporting the next generation of storytellers.
