Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) has unveiled its plans for the FIFA World Cup 2026 following the acquisition of exclusive terrestrial broadcasting rights for the tournament in South Korea.
Speaking at a production presentation held in Seoul on 2 June, KBS Sports Director Song Jai-hyuk highlighted the broadcaster’s commitment to delivering comprehensive coverage of the global sporting event, describing the rights acquisition as both an opportunity and a responsibility for the public broadcaster.
KBS will broadcast 91 of the tournament’s 104 matches live on KBS2, including all South Korean national team fixtures and key matches throughout the competition. The FIFA World Cup 2026 will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico from 11 June to 19 July.
Despite securing the broadcasting rights only in mid-April, KBS said preparations are well underway. The broadcaster plans to leverage AI-powered match predictions, multilingual translation capabilities, and enhanced data-driven analysis to enrich the viewing experience.
Under the slogan *“Unite Korea! The World Cup is KBS,”* the broadcaster is also assembling a high-profile presentation team, including former football international Lee Young-pyo and popular television personality Jun Hyun-moo, as it prepares to bring one of the world’s biggest sporting events to audiences across the country.
