Prasar Bharati and Maharashtra Government Partner

16 Jun 2026

Prasar Bharati and the Maharashtra government have joined forces to develop an Integrated Film and Television Media Hub in Mumbai, a project aimed at strengthening India’s position as a global centre for media and entertainment production.

The initiative will be developed through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) involving Prasar Bharati, the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), and the Maharashtra Film, Theatre and Cultural Development Corporation. The proposed hub will be built on approximately 150 acres of land owned by Prasar Bharati in Malad, Mumbai.

Envisioned as a state-of-the-art media ecosystem, the project will feature film and television studios, sound stages, post-production facilities, hospitality infrastructure, IT-enabled services, and training centres for film, television, and music professionals. The development is expected to support content creation, talent development, and technological innovation across the media sector.

The project received a significant boost following the approval of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who directed the formation of a joint working committee to oversee its implementation. Consultants will also be appointed to prepare a detailed project report and chart the roadmap for development.

Once completed, the Integrated Film and Television Media Hub is expected to attract investment, create employment opportunities, and further reinforce Mumbai’s standing as one of the world’s leading destinations for film, television, and digital media production.
