SIBC Launches Nationwide Audience Research Initiative

4 Aug 2026

ABU member Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation (SIBC) is preparing to undertake a National Audience Survey to strengthen its programming, digital services and future development.

The national public broadcaster has invited qualified consultants, research organisations and academic institutions to express interest in designing and implementing the survey across the Solomon Islands.

The research will examine audience reach across SIBC’s radio, television, digital and social media platforms. It will also assess media consumption habits, programme ratings, online engagement, social media use and advertising effectiveness.

Covering Honiara, provincial centres and rural communities, the survey is expected to provide a clearer understanding of how audiences access and engage with SIBC’s content throughout the geographically dispersed island nation.

The findings will support the broadcaster’s strategic planning and help inform decisions about programming, digital growth and commercial development. They will also enable SIBC to respond more effectively to changing audience needs and media consumption patterns.

As the national public broadcaster, SIBC provides news, education and entertainment through multiple platforms. The audience research initiative reflects its commitment to ensuring that its services remain relevant, accessible and responsive to communities across the country.
